Most fans and people do not know that the 83-year old thespian has suffered from the terrible condition for a long time. In an interview, the multi-awarded actor and director revealed that he often experiences excruciating pain in his left arm. He explained that his FM soon began after his 2008 car crash, an accident that nearly cost his life.
So, what is FM? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is a condition that brings widespread pain in different parts of the body. Currently affecting at least four million people in the United States alone, this ailment also results in a serious loss of sleep and fatigue. Over time, people who suffer from FM develop and carry both emotional and mental burdens that require immediate attention.
While the definite root or cause of this ailment remains unknown, the signs and symptoms of FM are as follows:
People who suffer from FM also report feeling tingling sensations in their hands and feet, while others said that they suddenly become numb in their extremities. It is also not uncommon to hear of people being diagnosed with TMJ or temporomandibular joint syndrome. Others experience irritable bowel movement, constipation, bloating, and other problems in their digestive tract.
Based on studies, women are more prone to suffer from FM than men. People who have this condition are also more susceptible to depression and frequently visit the hospital. They are also vulnerable to a few types of rheumatic conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, spondylitis, and osteoarthritis.
Aside from Freeman, Lady Gaga also suffers from FM. Like other people who live with this serious condition, Lady Gaga experiences bouts of pain, sensitivity to touch, and even muscle stiffness.
Judging by her iconic and animated performances on stage, one would never suspect the singer-actor to be under periods of debilitating pain. Any misalignment or injury to the C1 and C2 bones results in pain, discomfort, or even fibromyalgia. The cervical spine region protects the body’s numerous nerves that connect all the way to the brain. If these bones suffer from trauma or any external force that causes poor alignment, a muscular strain and/or nerve impingement may occur, resulting in painful sensations. Furthermore, some studies claim that there is indeed a connection between fibromyalgia and atlas misalignment.
